Mr. Jose Francisco Cedillo
Hello Parents and Students,
I am one of three Technology Education teachers that proudly represent Edward Manzano Middle School. I received a bachelor’s in Computer Science from The University of Texas at Brownsville and am currently teaching 8th Concepts of Engineering and Technology and 7th Technology Applications. This is my 13th year in education with 7 years of experience teaching technology courses. Concepts of Engineering is a course designed to introduce 8th grade students to the many careers available to them with some hands-on activities through the use of online modules. Students explore the different types of careers that are available to them and identify which career they would most likely consider based on module rotations and project based assignments. Each student maintains a working portfolio of career skill building activities and projects that will help them in the selection of high school courses dealing with their career pathway. Concepts of Engineering is for high school credit but does not carry a GPA. 7th Grade Technology Applications consists of two parts ( Typing Skills and Apps). Students develop their typing skills through out the school year. The main goal for students is to gain the ability to type proficiently with minimal errors. The skill of Typing will we useful through out their education and post educational career. Applications like Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to name a few will be introduced in the course.
My current certifications include:
Grades 6-12 Technology Education
Grades EC-12 Technology Applications
Other responsibilities and duties assigned include Electives Department chair, updating campus website, and Technology Support Teacher.
